The collection GREAT SINGERS OF FLAMENCO first issued by Le Chant du Monde in 1984 is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary. Its first twenty volumes are now considered works of reference, still definitive today. Le Chant du Monde has entrusted Pablo Garcia with the task of continuing this anthology of heritage initially undertaken by Mario Bois. Pablo Garcia knows all the secrets and arcana of flamenco and has selected for these four new compilations artists who have left an indelible mark on the history of flamenco. La Paquera de Jerez is first and foremost an agile, powerful voice with a quality called « laina », that is high, vibrant, typically Andalucían. But she is also a presence. As she sings her cante, she invites aficionados to enter an uncontrolled, sometimes inhuman world, like a comet transmitting its energy and life force. She offers a fragment of her own story, a whiff of Jerez, her native city.
