"If there is justification for any orchestral work by Brahms to be performed in a two-piano arrangement, it would have to be this concerto, since the piece was originally conceived as a sonata for two pianos. That said, this is not the original sonata, but indeed the concerto as we have come to know it today, with its solo and orchestral parts amalgamated into an arrangement for two keyboards published by Rieter-Biedermann in 1873...The artists are obviously deeply committed to this project.
