Here is a disc which proposes to make you discover a repertoire and techniques of medieval improvisation by touching your heart, by the infinite simplicity of tunes that centuries have not completely erased from collective memory. • Accompanied by instruments whose names carry magic for the uninitiated (chalemie, cistre, rebec, eardrum ...) and a real beauty evocative of our collective roots, here are more precisely polyphonic pieces from De la Rue , Bosfrin, Josquin des Prés or anonymous pieces from the Bayeux Manuscript, the titles of which refer to an extremely chiseled courtly poetry that heralds poets from the French Renaissance. Drawing on Jean-Yves Haymoz's research on improvised counterpoint and song on the book, the Obsidienne ensemble offers us here to hear melodies whose simplicity is enriched by an inventive and charming counterpoint, weaving links whose complexity highlights the refinement of the texts, allowing us to taste all the flavors. • The Obsidian ensemble by its beautiful vocal colors, a phrasing whose mastery makes accessible its words of tender and sweet love of an ancient language, and its courteous and sensual metaphors, makes this program, an initiation to the beauty of a world where everything was only subtle balance, joyful harmony and seduction.
