In July 1764 father Mozart fell seriously ill and had to stay in bed; the family also stayed in the quarter. But Wolfgang and Nannerl knew how to keep themselves busy: they both sat down at the piano and independently developed a technique of four-handed piano playing, at that time still a novelty in music. Fifty years later, a new era had dawned - in the Romantic era, one could at least dream of love that would break all boundaries, and four-handed piano playing became a favourite pastime of young people, as it allowed them to get closer to each other without any harm. Schubert dedicated his Fantasy in F minor for piano duo to his piano student Countess Caroline Esterhazy.
