The violinist Josef Sukwar was also one of the most important Czech composers: as Dvorak's son-in-law, he knew how to combine these family musical points of reference with the innovative influences of Debussy, Mahler or Richard Strauss to create an independent musical language. And he loved the fantastic: the virtuoso solo violin and rich orchestration make his fantasy in G minor a realm where daydreams have their place. This atmosphere also prevails in his orchestral suite Pohádka (Fairy Tale), which is about a stunning young prince. The brilliant and lively Fantastické Scherzo is one of Suk's most imaginative compositions ever.
