Among the most interesting personalities needing to be rediscovered in the musical world of late-nineteenth-century Italy, a very distinctive one is undoubtedly the Piedmontese composer Pietro Eugenio Luigi Hugues (Casale Monferrato, 27 October 1836 – 5 March 1913).
This recording was carried out on historical instruments from the composer’s time. The piano is a Pleyel Grand Piano, and the flute is a Couesnon: both were made in Paris towards the end of the nineteenth century.
