Melike has a great voice - soft, strong, emotion-loaded. If you like Souad Massi I imagine you'll like Melike. Various instruments give a full flavour. An interesting and complex sound: folk meets classical and jazz, with Arabic and Turkish emphases. Some songs are quick, dramatic - others slower, more textured. Basically it is a project: an anti-war protest, dedicated to the children who were victims in the Iraq war. Part of the royalties go to those children. I'm happy to be entranced by the music while helping others.
