It went through the international press some time ago: The music archive of the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin, thought to have been lost, was rediscovered by Christoph Wolff in Kiev and returned to the Sing-Akademie with a generous gesture by the Ukraine. The collection of sheet music, comprising some 5200 titles, was created under the aegis of Carl-Friedrich Zelter and contains primarily musical treasures from the 18th century, including large parts of the original sources for the vocal works of Johann Sebastian Bach and his sons, but also instrumental works that were thought to have been lost. During the repatriation of the archive to Berlin, Martin Haselböck and his Vienna Academy came into contact with the responsible authorities in Kiev and thus also with the Sing-Akademie. Thus, cpo was ready to release its own series of unknown pieces from the archive. This month we proudly present the first CD: three previously unknown flute concertos by Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Leopold Hofmann. Soloist is Christian Gurtner on the transverse flute.
