Unmistakable by its characteristic shape, many music lovers have certainly seen a crumhorn in the instrument section of a museum or on historical illustrations. But how do these strange instruments sound, which experienced their brief heyday in the 16th century and then quickly fell into disuse again at the beginning of the 17th century? After extensive research into the construction and tuning of these instruments, Bernhard Stilz and the musicians of the Syntagma Amici ensemble also turned their attention to the repertoire and selected a number of suitable pieces from the German-speaking countries, the Netherlands and Italy.
