One of the most charming examples of Jommelli's operatic work The music-historical significance of Niccolò Jommelli has only been recognized in recent decades and is being increasingly appreciated: as an innovator in the field of opera, he is now considered by musicologists to be of similar importance to his contemporary Christoph Willibald Gluck.
