This album explores music by three generations of the Tcherepnin family of composers: Nikolai, Alexander and Ivan. Each of the three wrote a wide range of scores, from solo pieces to large ensemble works to operas and ballets; this recording focuses on the family’s invaluable contribution to chamber music, presenting pieces in a variety of styles and spanning 95 years. The works for violin and piano of Nikolai and Alexander have rarely been heard. The chamber music of Ivan is represented by early and late works for flute, clarinet and piano.
