After his return from exile in 1948, Erich Kleiber first gave concerts in London and Stockholm. The brilliant radio recording of the concert with Beethoven's Missa solemnis, in which the young Birgit Nilsson also took part, appears here for the first time on sound carrier. Kleiber's well-known Beethoven sound with its lashing accents, driving tempos and subtle rubati is only used moderately here, in keeping with the work. As an encore, there is a rare recording with the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra.
