At Toscanini's invitation, the brilliant Erich Kleiber gave four concerts with the NBC Symphony Orchestra in the winter of 1947/48. The conductor, who always worked thoroughly, was able to work with the New York orchestra without time pressure, so in addition to the freshness and flexibility of the New York orchestral culture, this concert document also features Erich Kleiber's one-time conducting.
