Then I came to Germany to study - that was something else: the baroque direction. I was 18 years old, that was new for me, and it changed my approach to these works. Now I think I'm gonna do it differently again. These suites give the cellist great musical freedom, so one can play them all one's life and discover new elements each time" Tatjana Vassiljeva's Bach does not want pathos or melancholy: "...for me the music of Bach is not sad. The rhythmic energy of his music is sustaining, especially in the dances. It even takes some physical strength to connect the suites."
