In this film, Christopher Nupen takes an intimate look at the formative years of the life and career of one of the greatest violinists of our time. Itzhak Perlman fell in love with the sound of the violin at the age of three and a half, but when he contracted polio a few months later, he had to come to terms with the fact that this handicap would not lead to a great career as a violinist. But Itzhak Perlman made the impossible possible. Not only did he learn to play the instrument, but he also reached a level of skill that only very few can match. This gripping story shows how Perlman overcame seemingly insurmountable obstacles with his talent, determination, character and iron will, how he finally triumphed and achieved truly glorious results along the way.
