opis
Julian Prégardien now belongs to the Alpha Classics artist family. With several recording projects the tenor wants to present all facets of his artistic talent and focuses on songs and oratorios. His first album on Alpha Classics is dedicated to one of the greatest masterpieces in music history: Winterreise - but in a version with orchestra, composed in 1993 by Hans Zender. The latter composed the work for orchestra in a fundamentally different way than it was usual in the 19th century (for example including soprano saxophone, accordion, harmonica, guitar and large percussion apparatus). Hans Zender describes his work as a 'creative transformation': "My interpretation of the 'Winter Journey' does not seek a new expressive interpretation; it systematically uses the freedom that artists intuitively allow themselves: Slowing down or accelerating the tempo, transposing into different keys, emphasizing and nuancing the colors." After the performance of the 'Winterreise' in this version, Christian Merlin wrote in 'Le Figaro': "A fascinating winter journey ... The tenor Julian Prégardien, an extraordinary singer and committed performer, gives a flaming performance and combines vocal expressivity, loving attention to words and dramatic presence with sensitivity and intelligence"
