400 years after their publication, Monteverdi's 'Vespro della Beate Vergine' still intrigues. This monument of sacred music explores the most varied forms whilst retaining a remarkable feeling of unity and expressiveness. Under the baton of Marco Mencoboni this score, the fruit of new musicological research, plays with space in a similar way as did Monteverdi, placing the singers and instrumentalists in different parts of the church.
