"The Chronicle of Grieshuus" was one of the great Ufa productions of the silent film era. The Ufa offered for this Theodor Storm filming in 1924 everything that had rank and name.
This was also the case for the film music Gottfried Huppertz, who was to compose the music for Metropolis afterwards. For PAN CLASSICS Frank Strobel and the Radio Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt presented the complete reconstructed film music for the first time.
Above all, the coincidence of inner and outer movement, of emotional motivation, gestural expression and translation into audible and visible movement make the score a milestone in film music history.
