With this new release, Elisabeth Schwanda and Bernward Lohr present sonatas and preludes that have not only made history but defined historic composers as well. Telemann, Handel, Bach, Hasse and Goldberg were the most highly recognized in recorder sonatas and harpsichord sonatas. These sonatas boast a tremendous tonal palette and great ingenuity in their melodies, motifs and harmonies. To date, there are very few recordings of works for harpsichord by Hasse and Goldberg. During their lifetime though, both composers were stars, whose music featured a striking musical expression, charming melodies and a great range of expression.
