opis
The baritone Christian Gerhaher is currently setting new artistic standards as a Lied interpreter and on the concert stage, and increasingly also on the opera stage. After two choral-symphonic recordings (Faust-Szenen, War-Requiem) BR-KLASSIK presents as third release a Lied-CD, which contains a concert recording from Gerhaher's time as "Artist in Residence" at the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio • The mental bracket of the programme, finely tuned by Gerhaher and with the ambiguous title "folkslied", is the examination of the tension between folk and art song. It includes rarely heard folk song arrangements by Benjamin Britten as well as the folk song arrangements by Beethoven and Haydn for piano trio and voice. Gerhaher's decision to use the German texts of Haydn's songs published in the 1920s is linked to a homage by Gerhaher to Fritz Wunderlich, whose first recording of the German lyrics is particularly close to his heart. Instrumental partners are Gerhaher's long-time piano accompanist Gerold Huber and the solo cellist of the BR Symphony Orchestra Sebastian Klinger, and on the violin Anton Barachovsky, the Symphony Orchestra's first concertmaster.
