With the six episodes of his collection of mixed keyboard and vocal pieces for skilled and inexperienced players published between 1780 and 1787, Georg Anton Benda even reached more subscribers than his former Berlin colleague C. P. E. Bach with his series Für Kenner und Liebhaber. No wonder, since it contains not only piano music, but also chamber music and sacred and secular vocal music for domestic use. The pieces selected here enchant with their noble simplicity, expressiveness, gallantry and wittcism, which make Benda a great contemporary of Mozart and Haydn.
