For Martin Luther music was of especially high significance for his life and belief. The treasure trove of world-famous chorales that he left behind became sources of musical inspiration for wonderful motets, spiritual concertos and other adaptations by renowned composers from the Baroque era. The cantor for the reconstructed Dresden landmark Frauenkirche Matthias Grünert has collected these adaptations and, on Martin Luther: A Mighty Fortress Is Our God, leads his choral and instrumental forces in a selection of these Luther-associated chorales, motets and sacred concertos.
