For their recording of Johannes Ockeghem's Missa Caput, musicologist and conductor Björn Schmelzer and the Flemish ensemble Graindelavoix are pursuing a completely new and interesting approach: the professional singers of the ensemble are joined by amateurs and non-classically trained singers in order to achieve a sound that is as authentic and earthy as possible, which differs from the academic sterility of many comparable ensembles.
