This film by Thierry Benizeau is a document that is all the more rare given that Nikita Magaloff was a champion of concert performances and therefore made only a few recordings. Here, he plays Schubert's Impromptu in E-flat major as a textbook example, testifying to the high musicality and artistic stature of a pianist who, as a young man, associated with Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff, and for whom no less a figure than Ravel predicted a brilliant future: "In Magaloff, an extraordinary musician was born."
