Naive Classique continues its series of recordings of Monteverdi's madrigals with this double CD: the 7th book of madrigals from 1619 was recorded by Rinaldo Alessandrini and his Concerto Italiano and is dedicated to the theme of love, which was particularly close to the composer's heart. The Italian harpsichordist and conductor once again offers us a collection of Monteverdi madrigals of the highest quality, in which the poems not only guide the singing but also determine the arrangement of the madrigals. Inspired by "the hitherto unpublished print of a literary intention," as the composer prefaces the notes in a note, Rinaldo Alessandrini and his ensemble offer, as usual, sparkling polyphony in varied one- to six-part settings.
