Orlando di Lasso was known not only for his large-format sacred works, but also for his smaller secular works. The popularity of these small chansons, songs and madrigals was so great among contemporaries that they often served as the basis for their own compositions. But there was also the opposite way, the best known example of which is probably the chanson Doulce mémoire by Pierre Sandrin. It became the basis for a Lasso fair. The Capilla Flamenca has thematically arranged secular songs and chansons by Lasso and his contemporaries into an imaginary concert. The selection was so tasteful, the art of the musicians proves to be so exquisite that even pampered ears of the Renaissance would have been delighted - which is undoubtedly also true for today's ears.
