Leopold Stokowski was the first important musician who recognized the possibilities of sound recording for musical life and developed a lively recording activity early on. A corresponding number of recordings have been preserved and some have been made available again on CD. With the release of these recordings from 1927-1940, the American label Music & Arts closes one of the major gaps in the conductor's discography. The transmission magician Mark Obert-Thorn restored the recordings according to the best possible preserved sources and transferred them to CD.
