This recording of the Mass in C minor is an outstanding example of the fruitful collaboration between Fricsay and some great artists after World War II. This applies here to all four soloists, who often took part in concerts conducted by Fricsay. The stereo recording was made on November 29, 1959 in the large broadcasting hall of the Sender Freies Berlin on the occasion of a gala concert for the reopening of the recording studio.
