This is what Le Monde called Olivier Chauzu, born in 1963. At the age of 15 he was discovered by Yvonne Lefébure, the important French pianist and piano teacher - she encouraged him to pursue an artistic career. His studies with Gabriel Tacchino at the Paris Conservatoire led him to a first prize degree, as did his training as a chamber musician with Jean-Claude Pennetier and Jean Moullière. In Canada, he perfected his studies with György Sebök at the School of Fine Arts at the Banff Centre for Arts in 1987-88 - winning international competitions gave him the final touch. Since then Chauzu has pursued a worldwide career as a soloist and chamber musician - his present recording of two of Beethoven's later piano sonatas follows CDs with works by Albéniz, Dukas and Schumann.
