The repertoire of the Neapolis ensemble shows how composers such as Adrian Willaert, Lasso, Pergolesi and many others play with the popular musical culture. We owe them the entry of thousands of villanellas in Neapolitan language into the so-called high culture as well as the introduction of the Tarantella or the folk song in the Opera buffa. The singer Maria Marone is accompanied by the classical violoncello and the baroque flute, but also by the popular tambourine, the mandolin and the guitar, which give the pieces the lightness of the Neapolitan tradition.
