Six to Seven, the follow-up album to 2011's Five to Six, contains compositions from Erwin Schulhoff and Richard Strauss. String Sextet and Metamorphosen are two works that were written as a reaction to personal experiences of war; Schulhoff served in the Italian army in World War I, and Strauss experienced the destruction of his hometown, "his world," in World War II. The Hyperion Ensemble has been critically praised for their expressive performances, and they are regulary invited to perform across Europe.
