Sensitive to Frederick II. Johann Gottlieb Janitsch (1708-um 1763) was one of the first chamber musicians to found the so-called Friday Academies during the Rheinsberg years of the crown prince and later King Friedrich II. In addition to the composer's highly esteemed chamber music, symphonies were also performed at these academies. In Darmstadt several copies of his symphonies have been preserved, which show us Janitsch as an important representative of the gallant and sensitive style. The Frankfurt Baroque Orchestra Antichi strumenti takes up the lance for the long neglected Kapellmeister Friedrich the Great.
