Apart from short journeys, Georg Wilhelm Gruber remained faithful to his native Nuremberg and always refused tempting offers from outside. Unfortunately, this was not exactly conducive to his fame, and his music would have deserved a wide audience, both then and now. Especially in his concerts for keyboard instrument, an independent musical personality appears who knows how to skillfully blend elements of the North German School, the Mannheim School and Italy. Arthur Schoonderwoerd performs the original works here on a tangent grand piano, which enjoyed great popularity around 1770 and was also able to convince Mozart of its sound .
