The 14 works for piano and orchestra by composer and pianist Ferdinand Ries are among the most important piano concertos of the early 19th century. The lyrical intensity on the one hand and the almost robustly appearing sublimity on the other hand make these works so impressive. At the end of his long career Introduction et Rondo Brillant was created. The internationally acclaimed pianist Christopher Hinterhuber is especially praised for the liveliness and excellent phrasing of his playing.
