As cheerful and full of life as the age of the Baroque appears to us, Lent was an occasion in which the contemporaries and the court of Louis XIV were also absorbed. The sacred works of Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1643-1704) summarized here could also have been performed between sermons in this period. Each piece is related to the Passion of Christ and was composed by the Ensemble Pierre Robert under Frédéderic Desenclos to a Passion music.
