De Profundis" is a dark and beautiful selection of sacred and secular music for 3 basses, sung by the ensemble TRE BASSI (Alain Buet, Paul Willenbrock and Philippe Roche), accompanied and improvised by the three musicians Michel Godard (Serpent), Hille Perl (Viola da Gamba, Lirone) and Lee Santana (Chitarrone). • The music on this recording ranges from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, from Gregorian chant and Renaissance vocal works to contemporary compositions by Godard and Santana • The three instrumentalists improvise over the given music, thereby connecting the music of different ages and origins through their very personal style and creating a world of sound that transcends time and style, enabling completely new perspectives on early music as well as modern compositions and improvisations.
