Similar to Haydn, Rameau was for a long time a composer for composers, who was only received by a few connoisseurs. The first modern complete edition, which was supervised by none other than Saint-Saens, helped the work to its deserved dissemination. Le Musiciens de Monsieur Croche (Monsieur Croche was the pseudonym Debussy as a critic) combine here three of the popular Pieces de clavecin en concerts with two less well-known cantatas by the master.
