Every year, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra's European Concerts commemorate the date of its founding, May 1, 1882. Every year on this day, they perform at a different venue of particular cultural and historical significance. The Prague Estates Theater is one such venue, as two Mozart operas premiered here alone: La Clemenza di Tito and Don Giovanni. The program of the 2006 European Concert is also entirely dedicated to the great composer, who greatly appreciated this performance venue. Daniel Barenboim, celebrated conductor and pianist, appears both as soloist and orchestra leader of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
The bonus material offers a portrait of the city of Prague, which has always been one of the most important cultural centers in Europe.
