The Piedmontese church of Colletto has been a favourite venue of Cantica Symphonia for several years, where they give concerts and meet for rehearsals and recordings. In its wonderful acoustics, Maletto and his singers recorded this anthology of motets and lauds inspired by the Virgin Mary, most of them previously unpublished, during a series of intimate gatherings in 2007 and 2008. Renaissance composers such as Mouton, Isaac, Willaert and Peñalosa meet here with contemporary composers, Carlo Galante and Yakov Gubanov, the authors of two works written especially for Cantica Symphonia.
