The young Handel wrote these three wonderful sacred works in Rome, where he stayed from 1707 to 1710. The Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and the RIAS Kammerchor offer us a highly lively, colorful reading of this music, in which the composer's talent is already evident: fidelity to old forms, perfect mastery of counterpoint and a unique sense of storytelling from such an early age. Everything here hints at genius.
