The recordings took place in Italy, in a small private studio near Biella. In this concept it is important that the instruments are recorded in individual rooms, so that during the individual pauses in playing, adjustments or modifications can be made to the instruments without disturbing the other musicians. The communication among each other happens via headphones
On the one hand we interpreted the mentioned formula of Sergio Armaroli - Structuring the Silence for Quartet -, on the other hand we played free improvisations in selected combinations. The final selection of the recordings for the CD was made in joint discussion.
The variety of combinations makes it possible to listen to the CD and experience the individual instruments and performers from different perspectives, and thus to get to know the sound possibilities. In the mixing we have taken care that the common sound space remains and have renounced effects. • (Fritz Hauser)
