Two albums from 1958 (Monk in Action and Misterioso), released as At The Five Spot by Milestone in 1977, present a different take on Monk's music through the authoritative playing and interpretations of his tunes by tenor saxophonist Johnny Griffin, reinforced by solid backing from drummer Roy Haynes and bassist Ahmed Abdul-Malik.
