The tenth volume of violin concertos marks the return of Julien Chauvin and his Concert de la Loge to the Vivaldi Edition - this time with works associated with Johann Georg Pisendel (1687-1755). Pisendel was concertmaster at the Dresden court orchestra, a pupil and friend of Vivaldi, and contributed significantly to the popularity of Vivaldi's music in Dresden. It is due not only to the admiration and foresight of this important German violinist that the city has a considerable Vivaldi catalog, but also that several signed manuscripts have been preserved that can only be found in Dresden. The album contains three concertos composed for him (RV 237, RV 314 and RV 340) and three others copied from his hand (RV 225, RV 226 and RV 369) Outstanding are the splendid elegiac song at the Adagio in concerto RV 237 or the delicate slow movements accompanied by the pizzicato of the strings in concertos RV 314 and RV 226.
