The recording project concerning the keyboard music by Benedetto Marcello preserved in manuscript form develops in the Venetian Lagoon, where most of the marks left by the composer in this field can be found. The music intended for harpsichord by Benedetto Marcello himself (and for organ in one case) are crucial for the history of both Italian and European keyboard music. The complete recording project has found an eminent protagonist in Ottavio Dantone, known as one of the most respected and talented harpsichord performers in the world. In the current study phase, the opportunity has emerged to record some cantatas by Benedetto Marcello, preserved in the main archival collections of Venice, where the harpsichord is featured as one of the protagonists.
