The prize-winning Lars Hegaard (b. 1950) has, over more than 40 years, been an important voice in Danish musical life. Centred on the composer’s own instrument, the guitar, this album presents the world premiere recordings of six of his most important works for small groups. With their refined modernist expressivity, they offer a fascinating picture of the guitar’s possibilities as a solo instrument, as accompanist and as the first amongst equals in chamber music.

The album is recorded by Danish guitarist Jesper Sivebæk together with a range of the finest chamber musicians in Denmark. Sivebæk has extensive concert engagements as a soloist and chamber musician and is co-founder of the Scandinavian Guitar Duo, which won the Danish Broadcasting Association’s Chamber Music Competition in 1993. He has won prizes at international solo guitar competitions in Spain, France and Italy.
