Nakład wyprzedany, ostatni egzemplarz "The Adventures of Prince Achmed," by the great silhouette animation filmmaker Lotte Reiniger, inspired by the tales from "One Thousand and One Nights," is considered the first feature-length animated film in cinema history. Watching the silent film now with the new soundtrack by the Palestinian brothers Elia, Basil and Osama Khoury, one gets the impression that these two artistic forms of expression are made for each other.
The music from the Arabic tradition is influenced by flamenco, swing, classical and jazz. The Khoury Project consists of the three brothers on oud, violin and kanun and a quintet of saxophone, piano, trombone, double bass and drums. In addition to the film with the music (and an additional "making of") on DVD, the release includes a CD of just the music.
