With this CD the Belgian label RICERCAR reminds of the countertenor Henri Ledroit who died far too early. The singer has been associated with the label since it was founded in 1980. Early on Ledroit was committed to the rediscovery of the secular vocal music of Marc-Antoine Charpentier, whose secular cantatas and airs de cour can still be counted among the precious rarities of the repertoire. • The recordings of 1981 and 1987 with the Ricercar Consort make his joy not only audible in the music of Charpentier and document the artistic achievement of this extraordinary singer.
