Bach's Toccatas are undoubtedly among his most popular organ works, indeed the Toccata in D minor BWV 565 is probably the most famous organ work in music history. Apart from the unique quality of this music, they also prove the immense influence of the North German School, and especially that of Buxtehude and Reincken. The so-called "Stylus Phantasticus" cultivated by these composers was highly influential for Bach's organ style. • In addition to the toccatas, Bernard Foccroulle also plays some choral fantasies, including the choral fantasy Wo Gott der Herr nicht bei uns hält BWV 1128, which was rediscovered in March last year
