opis
The gardens of the Electoral Palace in Heidelberg were counted among the most splendid and beautiful in Europe in the early Baroque period, but since Louis XIV had converted a small hunting lodge of his father near Paris into his residence, there could no longer be any discussion of who possessed the most magnificent gardens in Europe - it was the Sun King in Versailles. The days of Heidelberg Castle were numbered anyway; it was destroyed by the French army in the Palatinate War of Succession. Louis XIV had assigned music a central role for his court; it was an indispensable part of his representation. So she also had to take part in the decoration of the sumptuous festivities, when the gardens of Versailles shone with torches and fountains. Little is said about Louis XIII, the father of the Sun King. But there is no doubt that he passed on his love for music to his son, as he was a singer with a beautiful bass voice, lute player and even composer. Louis XIV showed great respect for his father's musical heritage and had a collection of music composed for Louis XIII created.
