Before their debut at the Stuttgart JazzOpen Festival in July 2001, the West Coast All Stars had never been on stage together as a band. The rehearsal period before their performance was extremely short, the arrangements had not yet been drawn up in writing, and the program was only set one day before the concert. However, the six exceptional musicians offered an inspired concert of almost magical charisma and, with their vitality, their harmonious and perfectly coordinated interplay of the term "All Stars", were fully justified. In a balanced program with numerous West Coast classics, all members of the formation were able to show their best, virtuoso side. The sold-out house thanked them for it with thunderous applause.
